Giant squids are found in the deep sea and have been photographed at depths around 3,000 feet. Scientists face challenges in studying giant squids and their habitats due to the extreme depth at which they are located. According to National Geographic, giant squids are found in all of the oceans.
The typical size of a giant squid is about 33 feet in total length and around 440 pounds in weight. The largest giant squid ever found was close to 60 feet in length and weighed over one ton. Giant squids have the largest eyes of all animals, measuring over 10 inches in diameter. The diet of the giant squid consists of shrimp, fish, other squid and some researchers believe even small whales.
