Frequent burnouts occur in low-voltage lighting system because the lights are more sensitive to differences in voltage than standard 120-volt lights. Corrosion occurs in wiring connections and bulb terminals from humidity and water intrusion. Corrosion can add additional resistance to the lights and cause flickering, dimming or burnouts. Voltage drop is common in low-voltage lighting circuits and causes dimming. This is due to undersized wiring or too many lights being on a single circuit.
