As of Aug. 4, 2015, companies that hire excavator operators include Ceres Environmental Services, Knife River Corporation and Webber, LLC, according to Indeed.com. The required experience for these positions varies.
Excavator operators use excavators to dig holes and trenches at construction sites. They prepare the sites for construction of various structures, such as facilities and roads. Although they don't need to have a formal education, excavator operators need to be in good physical shape and have good vision. They also need to have an aptitude for mechanics, as sometimes they need to conduct routine maintenance on the excavators they operate.
