It is legal to conceal carry in the state of Illinois provided that the person has a valid concealed carry license issued by the state, according to the Firearm Concealed Carry Act. This act was signed into law in July 2013.

In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements, the Illinois State Police lists the requirements for a concealed carry permit, including completing 16 hours of conceal carry firearms training with an approved instructor, a certificate of completion of the training, a valid driver's license, fingerprints, and a current head-and-shoulders photograph. Nonresidents may also apply for a conceal carry license through the state of Illinois in order to legally conceal carry within the state.
