What is the Concept Map of Organic Compounds?
By Forinfos - 10/07/2025 - 0 comments
The concept map of organic compounds is a teaching aid that helps students understand the relationships between different types of organic molecules used in biology. The map is organized as a flow chart, with a top layer consisting of proteins, carbohydrates, nucleic acids and lipids.
Following a path from one of the four principal classes takes the student through the range of organic compounds in that group. Lipids, for example, are subdivided into fat, phospholipids and steroids. Fat is, in turn, further subdivided into saturated and unsaturated fats. Some lines terminate in real-world examples of the compound. Cholesterol, for example, is a steroid present in eggs, which the concept map shows.
