Is concrete paint better than stain?

The decision to stain or paint concrete is dependent on the user's desired level of protection. Stains require less work to apply, dry faster, and are easier to apply than paint. However, paints offer more protection by keeping the concrete from drawing in moisture and cracking.
Stains offer an aesthetic appeal with minimal coverage or protection. Paints are better for protecting the ground, but they require a lot of preparation, such as degreasing the concrete and using muriatic acid to clean the ground. Epoxy paints are often used for garage floors and require much less preparation than normal concrete paints, making them a viable option.
