How do you connect a phone jack?

Telephone jacks are essential in modern life, so having one that works properly is important. Learning how to connect a phone jack involves a few steps, including matching up the wires properly.

1. Get the installation supplies

   Get phone jack connection supplies, which include a new phone jack, a screwdriver, wire cutters and screws.

2. Remove the old phone jack

   Use the screwdriver to loosen the two screws, and then remove the telephone jack.

3. Pull out phone jack wires

   Pull out the phone jack wires from the wall. Look for red, yellow, green and black, which are the four colors that match the colors of the wires on the phone jack.

4. Connect the phone jack

   Turn over the phone jack and use the screwdriver to loosen the screws on the back. Connect each wire with its corresponding color on the phone jack. Tighten the screw to secure the wire. Make sure the wires are attached securely to the phone jack. Line up the wall socket with the hole of the phone jack and attach the screws.
