What are the connection types on Roku devices?

Roku devices connect to a TV through a red/white/yellow analog video and audio cable. Some models also require S-video, component video or HDMI connections.
An HDMI cable used to connect the Roku device to a TV delivers both audio and video signals to the TV using just a single cable. An optical cable for 5.1 surround sound, known as a component cable, is also a good option. This cable has red/green/blue connectors. Users can also use a component cable with a composite RCA cable to deliver stereo sound when using KDX and HD-XR Roku models. Each Roku player comes with a stereo sound cable and video cable set.
