The dermis of the skin is composed of loose areolar connective tissue and dense irregular connective tissue. The dermis is structurally composed of two parts: the papillary and the reticular region.
Many people do not know that the skin is the largest organ of the body. The dermis is the second layer of the skin, and its connective tissue supports the top layer of the skin and is made of matrix components such as elastin, glycosaminoglycans and collagen. The dermis is tightly connected to the epidermis, which is the top layer. It is home to many nerve endings that provide the sense of touch and heat, and it contains the hair follicles and sweat glands of the body.
