What is dense regular connective tissue?

Dense regular connective tissue is comprised of collagen fibers. The collagen fibers are densely packed together and arranged in a parallel manner. Dense regular connective tissue is found throughout the human body.

This type of tissue makes up ligaments and tendons and is found in joint capsules, the connective tissue that envelops muscles and the dermis of the skin. Connective tissue sheaths that form the periosteum, perineurium, perichondreum and perimysium also contain these dense regular connective tissue. This tissue is elastic and strong due to its high concentration of collagen fibers. This allows parts of the human body to resist outside forces and still be flexible and strong.
