The Amendments to the Constitution are important because they outline the freedoms given to the American people. Some amendments include the right to keep and bear arms and the right to free speech.
The First Amendment gives the American people the right to free speech, religion, press and assembly. The Second Amendment provides Americans with the right to keep and bear arms and the Third Amendment is the quartering amendment that keeps the military from confiscating a citizen's home.
Other amendments see to it that the public is protected against illegal searches and seizures and guarantee the right to a speedy public trial.
