France is on the continent of Europe, the world's sixth-largest continent. Europe covers close to 4 million square miles, and as of 2014, it includes 47 independent countries.
France is the most visited country in the world, hosting close to 85 million tourists in 2013 alone. Paris, its capital city, is home to the world-famous Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Louvre museum. Comprised of more than 210,000 square miles, France is the largest country in western Europe and, as of 2014, has a population of more than 60 million people. Its neighboring countries are Andorra, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Spain and Switzerland.
