Most of Turkey is geographically located within the continent of Asia. However, the far western part of Turkey past the city of Bosporus is situated within Europe.
Turkey is bordered by Bulgaria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Greece, Iran, Iraq and Syria. The masses of water that Turkey borders are the Black Sea, Aegean Sea and Mediterranean Sea. The capital of Turkey is Ankara, and its largest city is Istanbul. Turkey comprises a total area of 302,535 square miles. Turkey had an estimated population countrywide of 76,667,864 people as of 2013. Most of Turkey experiences a temperate climate with dry, hot summers and wet, mild winters.
