What controls the human nervous system?

The brain controls the human nervous system. The two major parts of the nervous system are the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. The central system is made up of the brain and spinal cord. The peripheral system connects the rest of the body to the central system.
Generally, the brain is the ultimate destination point for information gathered by the nervous system. The brain sorts and organizes the gathered data before giving out commands. While the brain is the control center of the nervous system, the spinal cord is equally as important. The spine acts as a channel allowing information to travel from the brain to the body. Without this pathway, the body cannot function normally.
