As of 2015, no more Conway department stores remain. For many years the company struggled with its sales. In 2014, National Stores bought the remaining stores.

Conway stores was a chain discount department store that first opened in 1942 in New York City near Herald Square. The company later expanded to other states, such as Georgia and Ohio.

The stores offered ladies’ and men’s apparel as well as casual and activewear, towels, and cleaning supplies, such as soap and fabric softeners. The change of shoppers' interest and the availability of access to jobbers are possible reasons for Conway's financial problems, according to Women's Wear Daily.
