How do I cook tiger prawns?

To prepare tiger prawns, purchase raw tiger prawns, clean them correctly, and brush them with melted butter and desired seasonings. Broil the prawns until they are fully cooked.
- Purchase raw tiger prawns
Prawns are sometimes sold cooked, but for this recipe, raw prawns are desired. Attempting to cook already-cooked prawns results in rubbery prawns. Some stores may call large shrimp "prawns"; they taste much the same, however, so do not worry a great deal about any confusion. For this recipe that serves six, buy about 1 1/2 pounds of tiger prawns.
- Clean the prawns correctly
Some stores sell prawns that are already cleaned. The head needs to be cut off, the legs removed, the shell peeled off and the large vein removed from the back. In almost all cases, the tail needs to be cut off right before cooking. Rinse the prawns, and pat them dry.
- Butterfly the prawns
Use a sharp knife to cut into the flesh of the prawn from the underside. Cut about halfway into the prawn but do not cut the prawn in half. Open the prawn up like a butterfly. This process allows the flesh to cook evenly and quickly. Place the prepared prawns on a broiling pan.
- Brush the prawns with melted butter
Melt 1 cup of butter, and add 1 teaspoon of minced garlic and 1 1/2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Pour 1/4 cup of this butter mixture into a bowl, and set the rest aside. Using a soft brush, cover the prawns in the flavored butter from the small bowl.
- Sprinkle the prawns with Parmesan cheese
Measure out 3 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle this evenly over the prawns.
- Broil the prawns
Put the broiler pan into a preheated oven on the top rack. The prawns cook in approximately 4 to 5 minutes. Do not overcook.
- Serve with remaining flavored butter
Dip the prawns into the remaining 3/4 cup of garlic and lemon-flavored butter.
