Does cooked rice go bad?
By Forinfos - 02/07/2025 - 0 comments
Cooked rice goes bad after four to six days in the refrigerator or six months in the freezer. This is true of all varieties of rice, including white, jasmine, brown, basmati, arborio and wild rice.
Almost all varieties of rice can last indefinitely provided that the rice is kept dry and cool with no exposure to dust, pests or moisture. The only exception is brown rice, which eventually goes bad regardless of storage conditions because of its higher oil content. Brown rice lasts three to six months in the pantry before going rancid, but its storage life can be prolonged to six to 12 months in the refrigerator or 12 to 18 months in the freezer.
