What cooking tools did the Pilgrims use during colonial times?

Cooking tools used by the Pilgrims included frying pans, kettles, iron pots, wooden spoons and a mortar and pestle. Every cooking tool used during colonial times was brought by the Pilgrims on the Mayflower.

The Pilgrims used these and other tools to make foods such as biscuits, butter, cheese, beer, salt-dried beef and pork and oats.

Although the tools were primitive compared to today's standards, the Pilgrims had a relatively varied diet. They used other tools for meat slaughter and cured some of the meat to last throughout the winter. They sometimes cooked their meat over a spit and gathered foods such as nuts and berries to supplement their diets.
