Corn is a good source of niacin, vitamin C and folic acid. Folic acid is a necessary vitamin for pregnant women to avoid giving birth to babies with neural-tube birth defects. Studies show that folic acid also helps prevent the development of heart disease. According to another study, corn has twice the amount of antioxidants as apples. Therefore, adding it to salads or preparing it as a vegetable side-dish is very healthy option.
