Costa Rica's climate is best described as a temperate tropical climate. There are no pronounced seasons, as the average temperature throughout the country ranges between 71 F and 81 F year round. There are only two seasons: the rainy season and the dry season.
The dry season runs from December to the end of April. During this time, the weather in Costa Rica is warm and sunny, with the warmest months being in March and April. The rainy season lasts from May to the end of November, during which sunshine in the morning often turns into rain in the afternoon. There does tend to be a brief dry spell in July and August; however, the heavy rains of September and October easily make up for it.
