What are cougars in "Red Dead Redemption"?

Cougars are wildlife animals that can be found in "Red Dead Redemption." In the game, they're known to attack travelers and their horses. Players are allowed to hunt cougars and can sell them to a merchant for cash.

In most cases, cougars seek out players in the game first. They tend to have a very low stance and can sometimes camouflage with their surroundings. However, if players listen closely, they can hear the cougars. By riding on horseback, players have a better chance of getting cougars to come out of hiding. Cougars can be found within several regions in the game’s map, including Tall Trees and the Silent Stead area.
