Botswana is bounded by four African nations including Namibia to the northwest, South Africa to the south and southeast, Zimbabwe to the northeast and Zambia, which forms a juncture with Botswana at a single location. The country shares around 959 miles of its land borders with Namibia, 1,223 miles with South Africa, 518 miles with Zimbabwe and less than a mile with Zambia.

Botswana is situated in southern Africa in the northern section of South Africa. It has no coastline and is not surrounded by any major body of water since the country is entirely landlocked. Botswana's landscape is generally flat, with the Kalahari Desert stretching in the southwest portion of the small republic.
