Which countries formed the Big Four in World War I?

The Big Four nations in World War I were the United States, Great Britain, Italy and France. After these nations and their allies won the war, their leaders met in France to determine the terms of the victory.

After the 1918 armistice that ended the war, U.S. President Woodrow Wilson, British Prime Minister David Lloyd George, Italian Prime Minister Vittorio Emanuele Orlando and Prime Minister Georges Clemenceau of France met on Jan. 12, 1919, to work out the terms of the Treaty of Versailles over the course of more than 100 meetings. Twenty-one nations were in the alliance that won the war, but the Big Four nations, with help from Japan, did most of the work in crafting the final agreement.
