Mount Fuji is the tallest mountain in Japan. Located on the island of Honshu, the composite cone volcano stretches to 12,388 feet and is known for its nearly-perfect cone shape. Mount Fuji, sometimes called Mt. Fujiyama, is the 35th highest mountain peak in the world.
Mount Fuji sits in view of one of the most populated cities on the planet, Tokyo. The mountain is a focal point for both ancient and modern art and is highly regarded within the Japanese culture. The Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park surrounds the snow-capped peak. Its 18 miles of forest, trail and lake make it the most visited park in Japan.
