The country that won the first World Cup was Uruguay in July of 1930. The runners-up in the first World Cup in order were Argentina, the United States and Yugoslavia.

The first FIFA World Cup lasted 18 days and was hosted in the country of Uruguay as well. Only 18 teams competed in three different stadiums. Other countries that participated in the first World Cup included Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Belgium, France and Romania. The three stadiums were located in Montevideo, Uruguay, and were called the Estadio Centenario, the Estadio Gran Parque Central and the Estadio Pocitos. Uruguay beat Argentina 4-2 in the final match.
