When are CPP payments issued?

A person starts receiving Canadian Pension Plan payments the first month after turning 65 years old, states Service Canada. An individual also can opt to begin receiving a reduced CPP payment at the age of 60.
The Canada Pension Plan is a program designed to provide monthly benefits to eligible members. People living in Canada or outside Canada can apply for the program. Applicants must at least be a month past their 59th birthday and have made one valid contribution to the CPP, notes Service Canada. The amount of CPP payments depends on a person's contributions and the period in which one has made contributions. Applicants choose the start date for payments.
