What to do if your Craftmaster water heater isn't working?

First, perform basic troubleshooting. A simple troubleshooting chart is available in the back of the owners manual. If the owners manual is lost or damaged, a copy is available from U.S. Craftmaster or at AmericanWaterHeater.com.
Identify the water heater fuel type—gas or electric—to ensure using the correct chart. Most of the symptoms, including no or insufficient hot water, slow hot water recovery, relief valve drip, thermostat not shutting off and water odor are similar for both models. Gas models have additional condensation and pilot light issues. When the problem is identified, consult the chart for the probable causes and corrective action required.
