How do you create a new AIM screen name?

Internet users can create a new AIM screen name at the aim.com website by following the sign up prompts. An email address is needed to sign up so that user can recover the account in the event of a lost password.

Head to the aim.com website and click "Sign Up."

Users have two choices for screen names on AIM. Either use an email address as a login name, or create a personalized screen name. To use a screen name, click "Or create a user name." This will take the user to an alternate sign up form, which asks for personal details. To use an email, nothing more than a password and date of birth is needed.

Using a user name sign up form will also provide access to the new @aim.com email address.
