Who created My Little Pony?

Hasbro, a toy manufacturer and media company, created My Little Pony in 1982. My Little Pony preceded another equestrian toy, My Pretty Pony, that launched in 1981.

The My Little Pony franchise has gone through four generations of toys and inspired many other forms of media, including television shows and movies. My Little Pony is one of Hasbro's top brands, and it has achieved collector status among adults. There have also been several imitations released, including Hasbro's Cabbage Patch Ponies and Tyco's Secret Wish Horse. The fourth generation of My Little Pony figures is still manufactured and sold through Hasbro, as of 2015.
