Who created the metric system?
By Forinfos - 03/05/2026 - 0 comments
The metric system was developed by a group of French scientists after the conclusion of the French Revolution, and was based on ideas developed during the 17th century. As of 2015, only a handful of countries do not use the metric system, such as the United States and Liberia.
The basic concept of the metric system adopted the idea of a system of measurement that is based on decimals and expressed using multiples of 10. The metric system was temporarily abolished between 1812 and 1840 in France by Napoleon. Adoption in other countries had begun during that time, typically following a period of political upheaval.
