What is a created sapphire?

A created sapphire is a sapphire made in a laboratory. Lab-created sapphires have the same mineral composition as naturally occurring sapphires, but they are much more affordable.
Natural sapphires take thousands of years to form. Laboratories use special equipment to simulate the processes by which sapphires are created in nature. The processes replicate the high pressure and heat found beneath Earth’s surface.
Unlike natural sapphires, which can contain flaws and traces of minerals that become trapped during the crystallization process, lab-created sapphires are flawless. They are used to create a variety of affordable sapphire jewelry, including rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces.
