What crops are grown in Italy?

Some crops that are grown in Italy are rice, wheat, corn, tomatoes, olives, grapes, cherries, apricots, nectarines, sugar beets and soybeans. Italy is one of the largest producers of rice in Europe, along with Spain.

The Italian Land Reform Acts of 1950 paved the way for the reallocation of large parcels of land among the farmers who were not land owners. However, parts of the redistributed land were not sufficient to sustain the agricultural sector, which suffered from the ill effects of the reform. In the mid-1970s, farmers received additional help from the European Economic Community that vastly improved their yields. Other food products that are grown in Italy are pears, plums and peaches.
