Washington Federal requires a minimum of $1,000 to open a certificate of deposit account. Interest rates vary for each account depending on the account's renewal term and balance. For example, a three-month certificate of deposit account has an interest rate of 0.15 percent for balances between $1,000 and $89,999 and an interest rate of 0.20 percent for balances between $90,000 and $250,000.
