Some dangers of installing a TV antenna on a roof include falling off the roof, touching power lines and being struck by lightning. There is an inherent danger in being on the roof of a house and extreme caution should be exercised or performed by a professional.

Rooftop TV antennae are prime conductors of electricity and can attract lightning. Using a lightning arrester can help prevent the antenna being used as a lightning rod on the roof by connecting a grounding rod to both the antenna and the pole.

Many people are injured or killed in accidents resulting from rooftop falls during antenna installation or adjustments. For example, British entertainer Rod Hull in 1999 died in such an accident.
