The DASH file extension may differ from other copy programs in the way that it stores video content but not audio content; it is generally unable to be converted from DASH and is meant for watching and not downloading. DASH files are considered temporary files generated during playback through a supporting media player.

The DASH file extension stands for Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP. The format transfers Internet video through the DASH protocol. To open a DASH file, use a VLC player with a DASH plug-in installed. There are many different video formats, some of which are video information files and do not contain video data.
