What is data analysis in a science project?

In a science project, the data analysis process occurs after a person performs an experiment to determine whether the hypothesis, an educated guess, is true or false. Analyzing the data consists of reviewing, calculating and charting the results of the experiment.

To achieve averages, multiple trials of the experiment must be performed. Raw data is collected from each trial and reviewed. A person must have a critical eye when analyzing data. Any possible omissions or mistakes should be considered before calculating and graphing occurs. After all data is processed, a person sometimes concludes that the hypothesis was incorrect, and a revised one is needed.
