On what day of the week do Muslims worship?

The Islamic prayer, known as "salat" or "salah," is performed five times every day, while a special congregational prayer is held on Fridays, according to the Encyclopaedia Britannica. Muslims worship Allah, the one God and nothing or no one else.

The congregational Friday prayer includes sermons, known by the Arabic term "khutbah," that a religious leader delivers from the pulpit. This is among the distinguishing features of this prayer, as no "khutbah" is present in the ordinary daily prayers, no matter whether they are performed individually or collectively in a mosque. The five daily prayers occur at dawn, midday, afternoon, sunset and in the evening. All prayers are preceded by ablution.
