As of 2015, the ratings found in Consumer Reports are determined by the organization's National Testing and Research Center, located in Yonkers, New York. The center consists of over 100 experts divided into seven departments as well as 25 research experts, and is the largest such center in the world.
The seven departments found in the National Testing and Research Center include appliances, electronics, food, home improvement and auto testing. The center also operates three research departments, which are statistics and quality management, product acquisition and product information. As a component of its rating process, Consumer Reports also employs over 150 anonymous shoppers located throughout the United States.
