According to Veteran Tributes, General Douglas MacArthur is the most decorated solider of all time. MacArthur served as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army in the 1930s and played a vital role in World War II.

Born into a military family, MacArthur attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he graduated first in his class in 1903. MacArthur became the Army's youngest major general in 1925. Though he retired from the Army in 1937, he was called back to active duty in 1941 to serve as commander of the U.S. Army's forces in the Far East. MacArthur's defense of the Philippines against Japanese invasion won him the Medal of Honor, the highest military commendation.
