What is the definition of blogger?

The term "blogger" means a person who adds new entries to or maintains a blog. The term "blog" was coined by Jorn Barger on Dec 17, 1997.

Although the word "blogger" has been around since 1997, the concept started gaining popularity from the year 1999 onwards. Bloggers can be classified into a variety of categories depending on delivery, target audience and content.

Some of the highest-earning bloggers include Michael Arrington of TechCrunch, Pete Cashmore of Mashable, Vitaly Friedman of SmashingMagazine and Perez Hilton of PerezHilton.com. More recently, Brandon Stanton has gained worldwide popularity through his personal blog Humans of New York.
