What is the definition of a gulf?
By Forinfos - 04/04/2026 - 0 comments
A gulf is a large area of sea or ocean partly enclosed by land, or any large distance between two objects. It can also be used to describe a disproportionate gap between obtained levels in a concept, such as wealth.
In its geographical meaning, a gulf is a form of large bay. It may also be referred to as a bight, sea or sound. Gulfs typically have less wind than open areas of coast, making them valuable areas for towns as they provide access to the sea while still being protected. A gulf surrounded in steep glacial areas is known as a fjord, a feature typically found in Scandinavia and Chile.
