What is the definition of output devices?

By Forinfos - 23/09/2025 - 0 comments

Output devices are pieces of hardware that process data sent from a computer and translate it into a form readable by humans. The most common output devices include: monitors, printers, speakers, plotters, projectors, computer output microfilm, sound cards and headphones.

Output devices are the most essential part to translating data from a computer to humans. Output devices such as Braille readers allow those who cannot see an opportunity to use computers more effectively.

While drives such as CD-ROMs, MP3 players and mini flash drives allow a user to place output data onto them, these devices are technically considered storage devices, not output devices.
