Can you delete old compressed files off a computer?

Disk cleanup can be used to delete old unnecessary files from a computer. Freeing up space from a computer's hard drive helps it to run faster.

Disk cleanup also deletes temporary Internet files, old system files and empties the recycle bin. Disk cleanup is typically pre-installed in every operating system, but third party alternatives are also available.

To access disk clean up on Windows operating systems, simply click on the Start button and type in Disk Cleanup in the search box. Alternatively, files can be deleted by highlighting them and pressing the delete key on the keyboard or by right clicking and selecting Delete from the drop down menu.
