The Democratic Party headquarters is located in Washington, D.C. The organization is officially known as the Democratic National Committee and is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Democratic Party.

The Democratic National Committee was founded in 1848 and helps organize the Democratic Party at the local, state and national level. The organization has primarily worked in the interests of women, working class citizens, minorities and retirees. Landmark pieces of legislation like the 19th Amendment, the Social Security Act and the Civil Rights Act were all passed by Democratic presidents and were created because of the efforts of the Democratic National Committee.
