To get a dent out of a car, apply a mixture of body filler and hardener, and sand it smooth. Retouch the area with paint afterward. You need sandpaper, body filler with hardener included, a body filler mixing board and a spreading paddle similar in size to the dented area.
- Remove the paint
Secure 80-grit or higher sandpaper on the power sander. Run the sander across the surface of the dent, and remove the layers of paint and primer.
- Spread out the body filler
Determine how much body filler you need, and spread it over the mixing board.
- Mix the filler solution
Add a small amount of hardener to the filler so the ratio is 50 parts filler to one part hardener. Mix the two materials together until they become light pink or blue in color.
- Fill the hole
Use the paddle to smooth the mixture over the dent so the damaged area is flush with the undamaged area. Do not get filler on the undamaged area.
- Wait for the hardener to cure
Allow the mixture to harden for at least 30 minutes.
- Sand the area
Attach 120-grit sandpaper to the sander. Run the sander over the area until it's smooth.
