Does dental insurance cover extractions?
By Forinfos - 12/05/2025 - 0 comments
Most dental plans cover some or all of an extraction. Many will cover from 70 to 80 percent of the procedure as long as it is categorized as a basic dental service.
Many dental policies have certain restrictions that may apply to an extraction. These restrictions include, but are not limited to, a surgical versus simple extraction, and the extraction usually not being classified as medically necessary. Under that restriction, pulling wisdom teeth for an orthodontic procedure may not be covered.
it is a good idea for patients to examine their policies to find out what is covered and what might end up as an out-of-pocket expense.
