What is denture cream zinc poisoning?

An overdose of zinc causes low levels of copper in the blood, which leads to degeneration of the spinal cord and problems with bone marrow. Some victims end up in wheelchairs, and the condition can be fatal. Reports show that denture products containing zinc cause this nerve damage, notes WebMD.
Two of the denture creams that are responsible for these health problems are Procter & Gamble's Fixodent and GlaxoSmithKline's Poligrip. Symptoms of this condition, known as human swayback disease, are limb weakness, numbness and difficulty walking. Many people develop this condition due to excessive use of denture cream to secure poorly fitting dentures.
