What is a dermal piercing?

A dermal or micro-dermal piercing is a piercing made into any flat area of the body, with an anchor placed under the skin that various decorative attachments can be put into. This type of piercing is done to replicate the look of a trans-dermal implant without the surgery sometimes involved in the procedure.
Dermal piercings are performed using a needle that opens a place in the skin for the anchor to be inserted into. These are sometimes called single point piercings because they have no exit like most regular piercings. The holes for the anchors can also be made using a dermal punch. These types of piercings can take anywhere between 1 to 3 months to heal.
