At its default setting, Google Maps provides directions optimized for the shortest driving time whenever a user selects transportation by car, which is represented by a car icon. By choosing different icons, you can also find the shortest trip time when traveling by foot, bike or public transportation.

Google Maps is available on Maps.Google.com and as an app for mobile devices.
