Canada routed Russia 6-1 in the final game of the tournament to capture the 2015 World Ice Hockey Championship. Russia was held scoreless until a goal by Evgeni Malkin with 7:13 remaining in the third period.

Led by Sidney Crosby - who tallied 11 points during the tournament - the Canadians finished with a perfect 10-0 record in the tournament, which featured 16 teams and ran from May 1 through May 15. The United States defeated Czech Republic in the Bronze Medal contest.

The Gold Medal was Canada's first since 2007 and was preceded by five consecutive years of quarter-finals defeats; Russia was the defending champion.
